I wish people would remember that Indie Music is nothing new. Sun Records was an independent label, for heaven’s sake. So was Stax. From the beginning of the record business there have been independent studios and independent labels, so get off your high horse already.

There’s also nothing wrong with a lot of major label music. Okay, some of it sucks, yes. But some of the Indie stuff sucks too. It doesn’t make it better one way or the other what label it’s on.

I just like good music. That’s it. It doesn’t matter to me if it’s big label or not.

End of rant.

Cam called last night and we chatted for nearly an hour. He’s considering making some pretty big changes in his life. He’s just miserable in his job now and really seems burnt out about it. Figures if he sells his house and either finds some place smaller or rents for awhile, he’ll be able to make it for a couple of years without working at all. Might give him a chance to do some writing or podcasting, which he’s been wanting to do but just can’t seem to make time for it with his current work schedule. Kind of risky, but more power to him.

Two of the best beginner guitar chords are the D5 and the E5 power chord. Yesterday we talked about how closely the C5 power chord resembled the B5 power chord. We’ll you’ll see almost a repeat of information with the D5 and E5 power chords. Take what you know from the C5 power chord and move both fingers down two frets each to play the D5. For those of you who do not know the C5 power chord, you’ll play the D5 with the A string on the forth fret while the D string at the sixth fret. For the E5 power chord, once again move two frets down each. Play the A string at the sixth fret while the D string at the eighth fret.
